si da importanza alle banalità, specialmente nel periodo estivo, quando gli scempi prosperano e  si ripetono senza fine.

come se quello che accade, in gran parte dell'isola, rientrasse nella normalità.

...ma non è così.

Incendi

in Sicilia distrutti quasi 17 mila ettari in una sola settimana. Sull'isola, da inizio anno al 21 luglio 2026 sono 328 i roghi appiccati e 24.451 gli ettari di terreno andati in fumo, pari a 34.930 campi da calcio.

...a tal proposito associo a quanto scritto, alcune photo tratte dalla serie dedicata alla terra "terra, earth, terre", ricerca fotografica iniziata nel 1990. questi scatti sono stati realizzati nel 1995, in una cava d'argilla abbandonata "dell'altro Lazio*", utilizzando pellicole polaroid polapan a sviluppo immediato.

immagini di terre aspre, rugose, dimenticate che potrebbero far  pensare a terre arse dal fuoco dopo l'abbandono.

terre quasi morte. potrebbero essere paragonate alle aree e ai suoli devastati dagli incendi, dopo alcuni decenni.

sparuti fili di gramigna segnano quel terreno ormai propenso alla desertificazione, ricordando gli avvenimenti tragici dell'accaduto.

l'aridità permanente, il crimine premeditato commesso per mano dell'uomo. 

la natura intorno a noi sta scomparendo e noi, ne siamo consapevoli?

Land of massacres

Importance is given to banalities, especially in the summer, when devastation flourishes and repeats endlessly.

As if what's happening, in much of the island, were normal.

...but that's not the case.

Fires

In Sicily, nearly 17,000 hectares were destroyed in a single week. On the island, from the beginning of the year to July 21, 2026, 328 fires were started and 24,451 hectares of land went up in smoke, equivalent to 34,930 soccer fields.

...In this regard, I'd like to include some photos from the series dedicated to the earth, "Terra, Earth, Terre," a photographic research project begun in 1990. These shots were taken in 1995, in an abandoned clay quarry in "the other Lazio", using instant-processing Polaroid Polapan film.

Images of harsh, rugged, forgotten lands that might evoke lands scorched by fire after abandonment.

Lands almost dead. They could be compared to the areas and soils devastated by fires, after several decades.

Scattered blades of couch grass mark that land now prone to desertification, recalling the tragic events of what happened.

The permanent aridity, the premeditated crime committed by man.

The nature around us is disappearing, and are we aware of it?
